Man Utd have reportedly presented Napoli an offer for Fabian Ruiz through his agent, but the Italian outfit consider it too low.
According to the Italian newspaper Il Matino, Manchester United has made Napoli a signing offer for Spanish midfielder Fabian Ruiz through the player’s agency. The Italian giants, however, think that the Red Devils’ bid is too low.
Ruiz joined the Napoli team in 2018, after moving there from Real Betis. The Partneopei’s recent climb to prominence in the Italian first division is largely due to the 26-year-old, who has developed into an important player for the team. The Spanish international, who is eager to leave the club, is in the final year of his deal.
Several teams, including West Ham United and Arsenal, have expressed interest in Fabian Ruiz. Real Madrid is apparently interested in signing the Spaniard as well, but they won’t do so until 2023 when he becomes a free agent. But Manchester United intends to outbid rivals for the services of the 26-year-old and appears to have expressed their desire in doing so.
Paul Pogba and Nemanja Matic’s departures from Manchester United this summer have left them in need of midfield reinforcements. The 20-time English champions have pursued Frenkie de Jong for a significant portion of the summer window without success since the Barcelona midfielder has no desire to sign with them.
Manchester United appears to be crafting a Plan B in the form of Fabian Ruiz, even though they haven’t given up on their desire to sign the Dutchman. The midfielder’s entourage was recently contacted by the Red Devils to determine whether he would be open to joining them this summer. The Red Devils have already advanced in their pursuit of the 26-year-old by submitting an offer.
In fact, the source claims that Ruiz’s agency accepted the offer from Manchester United to Napoli, and that this is one of the main causes for the Spanish international’s reluctance to speak with the Italians about a contract extension.
However, it is claimed that the offer from the Premier League bigwigs is too low, with Napoli demanding at least €25 million for their contract rebel.
If Manchester United is serious about signing Ruiz, the €25 million valuation shouldn’t be a problem. It will be fascinating to see if they follow up with a better offer for Ruiz or if they keep up their so far fruitless pursuit of de Jong.
