Manchester United and Barcelona are in talks over a swap deal that would see Wan-Bissaka and Dest exchange clubs.
According to a report from SPORT, Barcelona and Manchester United are discussing a direct like-for-like trade featuring Sergio Dest and Aaron Wan-Bissaka.
Barça and Manchester United are thinking of trading the two right backs who are not valued by their respective coaches in a move that could be defined as desperate on the part of both teams.
Dest is not in Xavi’s plans, and the USMNT star has been told to find a new team. Xavi has made this clearly clear. The lack of interest in the 21-year-old, though, puts the Blaugrana in a difficult predicament.
Manchester United, who are searching for a replacement for Diogo Dalot as their right-sided full-back, may now provide Dest with a way out.
Erik ten Hag, the new manager of the Red Devils, is familiar with Dest from their time together at AFC Ajax. Additionally, it is said that the Dutch tactician would be open to seeing the young defender again.
Recently, there had been rumors of a possible trade between Dalot and Dest. Since the latter seems determined to remain at Old Trafford, it appears that Barcelona is now considering signing Wan-Bissaka in place of the former.
Ten Hag does not favor the former Crystal Palace defender, so he has been made available for trade this summer. Although there have been rumors of him returning to Selhurst Park, Barça currently appear to be in the running to sign him.
According to the source, the two clubs are considering a direct swap deal because the market prices of the two players are comparable. According to Transfermarkt, Dest is worth €18 million, while Wan-Bissaka is around €25 million. Also being contemplated is an odd season-long loan swap.
Juan Foyth is Barcelona’s top choice for the right back position, but because of his high price tag, they must consider other, more practical choices. But signing Wan-Bissaka would be a dubious decision.
