“Manchester United betrayed me” Cristiano Ronaldo revealed truths as he slammed the club ahead of the World Cup.
Erik ten Hag and Manchester United have come under fire from Cristiano Ronaldo in a fiery interview with Piers Morgan.
Ronaldo has had a difficult season because United prevented him from leaving in the summer after the Red Devils missed out on the Champions League.
Since the summer, the five-time Ballon d’Or winner has faced harsh criticism for his inability to produce results that would satisfy new manager Ten Hag. who has kept Ronaldo on the sidelines for the majority of United’s current campaign.
He has now finished speaking after speaking only to Morgan.
The Sun reports that Ronaldo believes his club has betrayed him at a particularly trying time in his life.
He also criticized Ten Hag and Ralf Rangnick, a former superior. “If you’re not even a coach, how are you going to be the manager of Manchester United?” he asked of Rangnick. I was completely unaware of him.
Ten Hag was criticized by Ronaldo for not treating him with respect, and he later added: “I don’t respect him because he doesn’t show respect for me. I won’t ever have respect for you if you don’t have respect for me.
“I’ll never have respect for you if you don’t have respect for me.”
Additionally, Ronaldo attacked his former teammate Wayne Rooney, asking the Englishman why he was always critical of him. I don’t know why he criticizes me so harshly, he said, but perhaps it’s because I’m still competing at a high level while he has ended his career.
I won’t claim that I look better than he does. Which is accurate.
Ronaldo also discussed his choice to return to Old Trafford over Manchester City in the summer.
I went with my heart,” he declared. I responded, “OK, Boss,” when he (Sir Alex) told me it was impossible for me to travel to Manchester City.
Ronaldo quickly discovered, however, that the club had changed since he had last left.
Ronaldo continued, “There was no progress. I didn’t notice any change in the club after Sir Alex left. Nothing was different.
“I believe the fans deserve to know the reality. I want the club to succeed. I travel to Manchester United for this reason.
“But you have some things inside that don’t help (us) reach the top level as City, Liverpool, and even now Arsenal… a club with this dimension should be at the top of the tree in my opinion and they are not, unfortunately,” he continued.
