Manchester United manager has made a decision on his two transfer priorities in the winter transfer market.
According to rumours, Erik ten Hag, the manager of Man United, has identified his top two targets for the forthcoming summer transfer window.
After a poor sixth-place finish in the Premier League last season, the Dutchman was eager to add several players to his team during the most recent transfer window.
United took their time, but they eventually added five senior players, including Casemiro and Antony who arrived toward the end of the transfer window.
There are still voids that the manager wants to fill in the upcoming window, despite the fact that the senior team is a stronger proposition than it was the previous season.
In the absence of much competition this season, some first-team stars, including Diogo Dalot, have started each and every game for United, despite injury issues in other areas.
And Ten Hag has identified the two roles he is eager to fill in the upcoming year.
Priorities for transfers are chosen by Ten Hag
United are “not aggressively chasing” any incoming transfers during the January transfer window, according to the Manchester Evening News.
Fans of the Red Devils will undoubtedly be disappointed because Ten Hag will now likely have to finish the season without adding to his team.
The same source states that the club is instead preparing for the summer transfer window, which is expected to bring in a number of new players.
Finding a goal striker is Ten Hag’s first priority. While Anthony Martial has experienced injury issues this season, Cristiano Ronaldo’s contract expires this summer.
The Dutchman is also interested in hiring a right-back because Dalot is now the only senior option in that position who is totally healthy, and Aaron Wan-future Bissaka’s is uncertain.
The fact that Dalot’s contract would expire the following summer has the potential to further muddy the situation. However, United has the option to start a 12-month extension, which would at least afford them some time to find a replacement or negotiate a new contract with the player.
Jeremie Frimpong of Bayer Leverkusen and Max Aarons of Norwich have both recently been mentioned in connection with the Red Devils.
Whatever position Ten Hag’s team finishes in the Premier League this season, United supporters will be hoping that the summer transfer window may be productive in order to create momentum for the team’s championship push the following year.
