Manchester United set to make an offel for PSV’s Cody Gakpo after agreeing deal with Juventus for Adrien Rabiot.
After outrage from fans, United has chosen not to pursue Arnautovic.
Manchester United turned to Cody Gakpo as a forward after losing interest in Marko Arnautovic because they could not satisfy Bologna’s demands for a transfer cost and after receiving criticism from fans for the projected contentious deal.
The club and Juventus have also reached an agreement with the midfielder Adrien Rabiot. John Murtough, the de facto football director for the club, is currently traveling to meet Veronique, the international player’s mother and agent, to discuss the personal terms.
After an agreement was established, Ten Hag told Rabiot how eager he is to join United and that Juventus had authorized the meeting. It is estimated that the transaction will cost between $15 and $20 million. According to Telegraph Sport’s June report, the midfielder wants to transfer to the Premier League.
The 27-year-old would like to sign with a club competing in the Champions League, but given United’s current standing and Ten Hag’s desperation to bolster his midfield, the player is willing to join them.
United have expressed interest in Gakpo, a 23-year-old Dutch international whose club PSV Eindhoven is coached by their former striker Ruud Van Nistelrooy, who is believed to fetch roughly £35 million.
Erik ten Hag, the manager of United and a former Ajax coach, is obviously familiar with Gakpo. Gakpo scored 21 goals last season, including two in the team’s victory over FC Emmen over the weekend. He is tall and can play as a centre striker but is typically utilized as a winger. SEG represents him and also counsels Ten Hag.
However, Antony had been the United manager’s top pick when looking for another forward, but Ajax are asking too much of the 22-year-old Brazilian winger.
Gakpo, who graduated from the PSV academy, would cost half as much and is reportedly interested in teaming up with Ten Hag at United, but other Premier League clubs are also keeping tabs on him.
United intends to make a bid as they frantically try to improve their attacking options, but PSV are reluctant to listen to proposals until they know whether they will make it through the Champions League qualifiers to reach the lucrative group stages.
Benjamin Sesko, a 19-year-old Slovenian forward, agreed to a deal to transfer from RB Salzburg to RB Leipzig next year, hence United has lost out on his services. Fair enough, given that the trade is between sibling clubs, it was difficult for them to negotiate.
