Manchester United target Sergino Dest has reached an agreement with a new club on a loan deal with an option to buy.
On the day of the summer transfer deadline, Sergino Dest is about to sign with AC Milan, the reigning Italian champions, and leave Barcelona.
The USMNT player had been told to find a new club before the transfer window closed by Xavi Hernandez after being deemed surplus to requirements at Camp Nou.
Manchester United was the target of the trade, but it never materialized because the club opted to maintain Aaron Wan-Bissaka.
Dest’s future was then in question until late on Wednesday night, when AC Milan made a move for him. The 21-year-old defender was quickly agreed upon in full by the Rossoneri and Barcelona to be signed on a season-long loan with a buy option.
Achraf Ben Ayad claims that the former AFC Ajax right-back has now reached an agreement on personal terms with the Serie A champions, moving him one step closer to finalizing a move to Italy.
The journalist goes so far as to say that Dest will be departing for Milan soon to finish the last few paperwork and complete the deal.
More information about the conditions of the agreement has also been provided by Fabrizio Romano, who asserts that Milan has the choice to make the transfer permanent for a fee of €20 million; however, this option is not required.
Dest will also sign a contract with the Rossoneri that runs through the summer of 2027, with the possibility of a four-year extension should the transfer become permanent at the conclusion of the current campaign.
The right-back, who was acquired from Ajax in 2020, never found success at Barcelona. He could restart his career with a change of surroundings. On deadline day, the Blaugrana will make a serious effort to add a new right-back, with Mexican star Julian Araujo surfacing as a target.
