Manchester United to battle it out with Real Madrid and Barcelona for €20 million defender.

According to reports, Manchester United will compete with Barcelona and Real Madrid for Olympique Lyonnais right back Malo Gusto.

Only three points separate Erik ten Hag’s rejuvenated Manchester United from a Champions League spot as they enter the World Cup break in fifth place.

Despite Cristiano Ronaldo’s highly critical interview making headlines, the Red Devils under ten Hag seem to be progressing steadily in the right direction.

To keep the pressure on for a top-four spot, they will need some January hires.

To Man Utd, malo gusto?

Fichajes claims that Manchester United is interested in signing Lyon right back Gusto, but Real Madrid, Chelsea, AC Milan, Juventus, and Barcelona will also be vying for his services.

According to the publication, despite Real and Barcelona’s strong interest in the 19-year-old, the latter are constrained by financial unfairness and significant debt.

The dynamic French fullback has been suggested by Carlo Ancelotti’s team as the ideal replacement for Dani Carvajal, who is looking for a long-term replacement.

Man United are currently looking for a right-back to replace the out-of-favor Aaron Wan-Bissaka and give Diogo Dalot enough competition.

According to the publication, Gusto’s services will cost interested parties €20 million (£17.4 million).

Right-back is what Erik ten Hag wants.

Dalot has distinguished himself this season and claimed Man Utd’s right-back position. The Portugal international’s contract expires in the summer, though.

Wan-Bissaka, who played only four minutes of first-team football the entire season, lost his spot in the starting lineup under former interim manager Ralf Ragnick, and he now appears to be leaving Old Trafford

The Man Utd manager said to Sky Sports about the right-back position: “I’m really happy with the development of Diogo. He is excellent in possession and has the ability to breathe up and down, so the development is excellent.

But I must point out that a team like Manchester United needs two excellent fullbacks because we have many games to cover.
