The 34-year-old Brazilian defender joined Lyon in 2017 from the Turkish league and he did extremely well for the club.

It was reported that he was farting and laughing about it with his teammates in the locker room and the manager reminded him of his poor performances on the pitch and fired him.
Therefore, the 34-year-old was demoted to the Lyon reserve team. Marcelo denied reports that claimed that his contract was terminated due to excessive farting in the locker room.
Marcelo is no longer part of the Lyon squad and he will continue his football journey elsewhere. He is only 34 and he can still do it.
The former Besiktas defender has described the report from L’Equipe as false.
