Marcos Alonso and Jules Kounde reacted to the defeat against Bayern Munich last night.
Barcelona suffered their first setback of the new campaign on Wednesday as they were trounced 2-0 by old rivals Bayern Munich in the UEFA Champions League at the Allianz Arena.
Barça dominated play for the majority of the first half and produced numerous excellent opportunities that they did not take advantage of.
Those errors would come back to haunt Xavi and his teammates as Leroy Sane made it 2-0 before Lucas Hernandez gave Die Roten the lead early in the second half.
Barcelona tried to come back into the match but was unsuccessful as they fell to the Bavarians for the fifth straight time.
Following the game, manager Xavi Hernandez expressed disappointment, while new signing Jules Kounde expressed a similar sentiment, saying that the loss was difficult to take after the first-half performance.
We played quite well, but I still can’t accept the outcome, he added. Kounde continued, “They have punished us with set pieces and counterattacks.”
The Frenchman commented on Robert Lewandowski’s missed opportunities by saying, “Lewandowski will score the chances he missed today next time.”
He commented, “We competed quite well. Details are important. We were lacking in objectives. We were a little disoriented on the corner and soon after gave up a second goal. We must keep going.
In agreement with Kounde, Marcos Alonso, who started for Barcelona for the first time on Wednesday, stated that the club cannot afford to waste opportunities while playing a team like Bayern Munich.
“You have to take advantage of opportunities in games against rivals like Bayern. They are quite high quality, physically powerful, and obviously dangerous as well,” he remarked.
“We’ve done well. I believe we’ve made enough to succeed or at the very least obtain a better outcome, but let’s keep working.
Despite the wasted opportunity, Alonso emphasized that there were still many games left to play, adding, “I think we have to stick with the positives from here.”
