To land Erik ten Hag, his new top target, Mason Greenwood is reportedly being offered a loan move to Atalanta.
Manchester United must sign a striker for Erik ten Hag this summer as well as what to do with Mason Greenwood’s future ahead of the pre-season tour.
Harry Kane was originally Ten Hag’s top choice for the 2023–24 Premier League season, but Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy rejected their request and stated that Kane was not available for sale to any English club this summer.
The decision was made to focus on Rasmus Højlund, an Atalanta striker who has emerged as the club’s new top target for the striker position this summer, rather than signing Harry Kane.
The club has suspended Mason Greenwood since January 2022 as a result of online footage showing him reportedly abusing and threatening to kill his partner.
Despite beginning to compile a case against Greenwood, the Crown Prosecution Service ultimately abandoned it due to a dearth of crucial witnesses and supporting data.
Mason Greenwood to join Atalanta
Mason Greenwood has reportedly been offered the chance to join Atalanta on loan while United is in talks with the Italian team over a Højlund transfer price, according to Samuel Luckhurst of the Manchester Evening News.
In order to obtain Rasmus Højlund, John Murtough has ‘had extensive negotiations with Atalanta authorities’ and has brought up the idea of loaning Greenwood to the team; Atalanta are on board with the idea.
Sending Greenwood out on loan might facilitate negotiations between the two clubs and enable Atlanta to accept a lesser asking price for the striker, who Atalanta are rumored to desire for approximately £50 million.
Mason Greenwood reached an agreement with Atalanta?
According to Italian source, Atalanta BC News: Mason Greenwood has reached an agreement with Atalanta over a season long loan move this summer and he will be in Italy (Bergamo) on Tuesday to complete his move.
The England international rejected Juventus to favor a move to Atalanta this summer.
Opinion
I’m convinced that Mason Greenwood has made the best decision for himself and family. After everything that has happened, it’s better he moved to Italy on loan to revive his career and it will help him mentally and physically.
Manchester United have now decided to loan him out according to Sam and I think it’s the best decision for him. He has a contract until 2025 with an option for additional one year.
