Messi news: MLS Clubs are in the race with Barcelona for the signing of Lionel Messi in the summer 2023.

There has been much discussion over Lionel Messi’s future as his deal with Paris Saint-Germain is set to expire at the end of the current campaign.

The 35-year-old probably won’t make a decision about his future until after the FIFA World Cup in Qatar is over. But that hasn’t stopped rumors about the superstar’s alleged next location from flying around the internet like wildfire.

PSG, on the other hand, is eager to retain onto the Argentine talisman and has reportedly made him an offer for a one-year deal with a 12-month extension option.

While this is going on, Barcelona is planning to re-sign Messi and give him the chance to hang up his boots at Camp Nou in a few years. President Joan Laporta is treating it as a challenge to do so.

The Argentine has already said that he may be open to moving to the United States, and there have been rumors that MLS clubs are considering making a play for Messi.

But Josep Pedrerol claims that MLS teams think Messi is eager to go back to Barcelona.

If true, this will come as a huge boost for the Blaugrana’s chances of re-signing the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner.

There has reportedly been some friction between Laporta and Messi following the manner of the latter’s exit, while the Argentina captain’s relationship with a few players like Gerard Pique is also said to be iffy.

But Barcelona is already looking for ways to woo Messi back to the team and trying to mend fences with the world-famous legend.

Messi has found his footing in 2022 after adjusting to life in France slowly the previous year. This season, he has been in particularly excellent form. He has already scored seven goals and assisted on eight others in just 12 games across all competitions, demonstrating his talent despite becoming older.
