Mykhalyo Mudryk picks between Real Madrid and Arsenal as he eye a summer move, with Manchester United interested in him as well.
One of the greatest discoveries of this UEFA Champions League season thus far has been the Shakhtar Donetsk starlet Mykhaylo Mudryk.
The young athlete, who was only 21 years old, consistently outperformed the competition’s group stages. In six games, he scored three goals and provided two assists, assisting Shakhtar Donetsk to third place in the group.
Naturally, Mudryk’s explosive performances at Shakhtar have caught the attention of several powerful European clubs, who are now interested in his services.
Mudryk has recently spoken out about his future, specifically mentioning Real Madrid and outlining the qualities he would want in a new team.
The Ukrainian winger stated (h/t MARCA), “From a purely hypothetical perspective… if there was the option of being a bench player at Real Madrid or a starter at Arsenal, probably I would choose Arsenal,” suggesting that he would prefer regular game time over joining a European powerhouse like Real Madrid.
However, Mudryk is willing to sign with a team like Real Madrid if the manager promises him the chance to succeed. “But it’s a tricky question, and my response takes a lot of things into account.
First, I would like confirmation from the coach that he would be given a chance even if he wasn’t a lock to start,” he said.
“Basically, I want to speak with the coach directly.” What do you see me doing?” he continued.
Since making his debut for Shakhtar Donetsk, Mudryk has played in 42 competitive games for the team, scoring 10 goals and dishing out 17 assists in the process. Additionally, he has eight caps for the national team of Ukraine.
It’s interesting to note that the young winger has already faced Real Madrid four times. He thanked the crowd for treating the Shakhtar team so well, even once giving them a standing ovation, despite playing the Whites in the Champions League for two consecutive seasons.
He expressed his gratitude to the Real Madrid supporters for their outstanding support.
