The club has now confirmed that Kessie has suffered an injury in his right hamstring, adding him to the list of injuries at Spotify Camp Nou.
As stated before, the club has not provided a detailed recuperation schedule for the midfielder. However, given the upcoming fixture calendar, the news is disappointing for Xavi Hernandez and company.
According to Javi Miguel, the midfielder might be sidelined for seven to ten days.
After his contract with AC Milan expired, Kessie joined Barcelona as a free agent this past summer. Although Xavi hasn’t used the 25-year-old frequently, the manager prefers the trio of Pedri, Gavi, and Sergio Busquets, with de Jong coming in second.
Despite the fact that the team might be losing Kessie, there is some positive news in that de Jong has returned to team training and is almost ready to make a comeback, which will be encouraging.
