Barcelona entered the season with the entire world at their feet. They had previously defeated Real Valladolid with four goals, Sevilla with three, Viktoria Plzen with five, and Cadiz with four.
Prior to the international break, almost nothing had gone wrong for them. While representing their country, Jules Kounde, Ronald Araujo, Memphis Depay, and Frenkie de Jong all sustained injuries. Andreas Christensen also sustained an injury after the break.
However, they are encouraged by the return of Jules Kounde, one of them, ahead of this weekend’s match against Real Madrid.
The Frenchman is on the roster for the match, it was formally announced today.
Unfortunately, Barcelona is currently solely coping with that recovery. Ronald Araujo won’t be seen until after the World Cup, leaving Depay, Bellerin, and Christensen still out for at least another week.
Following a poor performance against Inter Milan on Wednesday, Gerard Pique is traveling with the club. Though Xavi has hinted at utilizing Marcos Alonso in defense with Eric Garcia and Jules Kounde, it is still unclear if he will start.
