Pablo Gavi has already hinted at Chelsea transfer decision amid ongoing contract stand-off.
Pablo Gavi of Barcelona has been linked to a move to Chelsea as the Blues look to add a new midfielder this summer.
Pablo Gavi, a Barcelona wonderkid who is entering the final year of his contract at the Spotify Camp Nou, has made a suggestion about his near future.
The outstanding 17-year-old, who is in the process of renewing his contract with Xavi Hernandez’s team, has been linked to a move to Chelsea. Despite the club’s persistent financial difficulties, Barcelona has prioritized recruiting players like Robert Lewandowski, Raphinha, and Jules Kounde.
Despite having agreed upon transfer prices with their respective teams, Raphinha and Kounde chose to join the Catalan giants rather than the Blues, and so the Blues missed out on both deals. The 17-year-£86 old’s million release clause might be exercised by Chelsea to pursue a move for Gavi, but the youngster has handed the Blues a blow by giving away some information about his future on Barca’s preseason trip.
The future of Gavi with Barcelona is still up in the air because negotiations to extend his contract have so far failed to produce a deal, but the Spain international has given some indication that he will stay with the La Liga team. “I am very glad to be on this tour with the team,” Gavi stated following Barcelona’s 1-0 victory over Real Madrid.
“I’m the first to express enthusiasm for this team. I anticipate a pleasant, joyous season.
Frenkie de Jong, a colleague of Gavi’s, has been linked to a transfer to Chelsea, but the Dutch midfielder has consistently turned down other offers and wants to stay at Barcelona.
While the Blues could exercise Gavi’s release clause and initiate direct negotiations with the player’s camp, it appears that they may encounter a similar situation to that of De Jong, who, at the age of 17, appears content to remain at Barcelona this summer despite having entered the final year of his contract.
This summer, N’Golo Kante, Jorginho, and Ruben Loftus-futures Cheek’s at Stamford Bridge are all up in the air, and Thomas Tuchel is rumored to want to bolster his team’s midfield.
Should the Blues seek a deal for the Spanish wonderkid, Gavi would be a pricey choice, but given his age, talent, and promise, Gavi may dominate Chelsea’s midfield for years to come if the club can persuade him to from the Spotify Camp Nou.
