Pablo Gavi set to be registered with the first team in January as he will be handled the Legendary Xavi number.
Barcelona can look back on the summer with very few regrets as the dust settles on a busy transfer window.
The majority of the Blaugrana’s main targets were captured, although Bernardo Silva and Cesar Azpilicueta were not among them. The contract extension of young midfield sensation Gavi is another item that Barcelona was unable to accomplish.
The 18-year-old midfield wonder had an incredible debut season last year and has since developed into an essential member of Xavi’s team.
He is currently, nonetheless, in the last year of his contract. Barcelona and the Spanish international have reportedly reached an agreement on the conditions of a contract extension with the midfield prospect.
The club, however, insisted on waiting until his 18th birthday in August so that his contract might be long-term. Gavi turned 18 over a month ago, but Barça has not yet acknowledged his extension, and the young player is not listed with the first squad either.
Instead, according to Albert Roge, Gavi will continue to be under the Juvenil A contract until January, after which he will be added to the first team’s roster.

The writer believes that until then, Gavi will wear the same 30 shirt that he is already sporting. The 18-year-old will receive the 6 uniform after completing his registration as a first-team player in January, which was previously worn by none other than current manager Xavi.
After Xavi left in 2015, Dani Alves also wore the number 6 for a season. Riqui Puig was the most recent player to don the jersey, donning it for the 2021–2022 season. Now, Gavi will receive the No. 6 jersey when he is officially added to the first-team roster in January.
