Pablo Gavi’s speech after receiving the Golden Boy award for 2022 “the best youngster in the world”
The Golden Boy 2022 award was formally accepted by Barcelona midfielder Gavi yesterday at a gala in Turin, despite the fact that it had already been announced.
Due to his upcoming match on Tuesday against Osasuna, the youngster was unable to physically attend the event, but he was present via video conference.
Gavi said (h/t SPORT) upon receiving the award, “It is an honor to have this award, even more so because Pedri also won it (last year).
Following a breakthrough 2021–2022 season in which he established himself as an integral part of Barcelona’s creative setup, Gavi received the prestigious award from the Italian publication Tuttosport. This season, the young player advanced by taking over as Xavi’s top choice for the interior midfield position.
The Spaniard, who has played for Barcelona in more than 50 competitive games, acknowledged that there is much room for improvement. Every player needs to constantly get better. Particularly myself, since I’m only 18 and still have a lot to learn,” he said.
