Paris Saint-Germain director revealed the Ousmane Dembele’s move to PSG decision, with Barca turn around.
Due to his contract’s expiration at the moment, Barcelona winger Ousmane Dembele has been the subject of numerous transfer rumors since January of this year.
The initial contract offer from Barça was rejected by the 25-year-old, sparking rumors that he might sign with another team as a free agent. There were also rumors that the French forward and Paris Saint-Germain had a pre-contract agreement regarding a transfer.
Dembele did let his contract with Barcelona expire, but ten days after becoming a free agent, he re-signed with the Catalan powerhouse. The former Borussia Dortmund player has signed a two-year contract with the Blaugrana and is off to a strong start.
The Frenchman has consistently insisted that he has no desire to play for any other club and that he intends to stay at Camp Nou.

The PSG rumors, though, persisted for years. The club’s decision to pass on signing Dembele in the summer transfer window has finally been explained by Les Parisiens’ sporting director, Luis Campos, who made the following comments (h/t Fabrizio Romano):
“Dembele is a winger, and we play in a different system, so we didn’t sign him. Although I think highly of Dembele, we had other intentions.
Romano adds that discussions between Dembele’s representatives and PSG did occur, but they did so before Campos took over as the club’s director in lieu of Leonardo. The Parisian giants switched to a different set of targets after the former arrived.
In the end, it’s possible that the lack of interested parties contributed significantly to Dembele’s decision to re-sign with Barcelona.
Whatever the cause, the Frenchman has had a strong start to the season and has established himself as an important player for Xavi’s team. In eight games this season in all competitions, he has two goals to his name and four others to his credit.
