As each day goes by, more and more rumors about the future of Barcelona icon and superstar Lionel Messi of Paris Saint-Germain continue to circulate.
The 35-year-old is in the final year of his deal with PSG, and when he becomes a free agent in 2023, there has been a lot of speculation about his going back to Barça. According to reports, Joan Laporta is prepared to take any necessary steps to get the former club captain back.
At the same time, PSG wants to keep him at Parc des Princes for a longer period of time and is prepared to make him a substantial contract offer.
In the midst of all, AS journalist Manu Sainz has revealed something new regarding Messi’s conceivable departure from the French team.
The megastar, 35, reportedly has a verbal agreement with PSG that would let him leave the team as early as the January transfer window if he so chooses.

Manu Sainz also says that the Argentina captain does not rule out a potential return to Barcelona next year, either in the January transfer window or during the summer transfer window, and that he has no desire to extend his contract with the Ligue 1 winners as things stand.
This provides Barça with another another significant boost in their effort to resurrect their legend for one final dance.
Messi’s forced departure from the club last summer as a result of the financial circumstances was not well received by the player or the supporters. If they re-signed him, the superstar would have the chance to leave Spotify Camp Nou on his own terms, which is something he more than deserves.
It will be intriguing to watch if Messi decides to leave PSG in the middle of the season. Given that he has been playing so well this season and would want to finish the game, it does appear odd.
According to numerous sources, no decision will be made on his future until after the FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
