Paul Woolston retires

Paul Woolston retires from football at the age of 23 and the Manchester United players are gutted.

The English goalkeeper came through from the Manchester United academy and he trained together with the likes of David De Gea and Dean Henderson.

Paul Woolston made a move to Newcastle United, but he couldn’t fulfill his dreams of playing at the highest level.

He has been ruled out for months/years, but the club kept it as a secret. His situation is unknown until he announced his retirement.

Paul Woolston came out to announce his retirement from football, a few days ago and the fans and players are gutted.

He had a good relationship with some of the Manchester United players, who he played together with at the youth team.

Paul Woolston retires at 23

He is only 23-year-old and I think that he had a long way to go, but he couldn’t fulfill his childhood dreams.

Dean Henderson and David De Gea pays tribute to the English youngster who retires at the age of 23.

Dean Henderson on Paul Woolston

“It’s devastating for himself and for all of us around him. He was a great guy to work with throughout the age groups.

When I was in the younger age groups, I even remember playing against him when he was at Newcastle. But he’s a very clever guy and that will stand him in good stead.

I wasn’t aware of the news until recently due to Covid bubbles and people not seeing each other and it’s something that has been kept under wraps.

He’s a good lad who knows what he wants. He knew what he wanted when he was a player.

He was such a technically gifted goalkeeper as well so it’s such a shame to lose him at such a young age. Going forward, I’m sure he’ll put his drive into something else and it will set him in good stead.”
