Premier League midfielder Ruben Neves could join Barcelona on loan in January as agent ready to help.
Barcelona plans to add a new midfielder during the upcoming January transfer window, as was previously reported.
The Catalans are worried about captain Sergio Busquets’ recent performances and want to bring in a guy who can cover for him and challenge him before finally taking his place.
The Blaugrana are keeping an eye on a number of players, notably Ibrahim Sangare of PSV Eindhoven. Ruben Neves of Wolves and Portugal has been the player most frequently connected thus far.
Barça has been considering signing the 25-year-old midfielder from the Premier League for quite some time. During the previous summer transfer window, he was rumored to be moving to Spotify Camp Nou, but the transfer never happened, and he remained at Wolves.
Next summer, he will begin the final year of his deal with the Midlands side, and he hasn’t indicated that he wants to sign an extension.
In the middle of this, it is rumored that Neves has already been presented to the Catalan club by his agency, Jorge Mendes, who has close relations to the Barcelona management.
According to a new claim from Mundo Deportivo, the superagent may be able to help the Blaugrana secure Neves as early as the January transfer window by negotiating a loan-to-buy deal with Wolves.
Currently valued at €40 million, the 25-year-old Portuguese international may help arrange a loan move to Barcelona in the upcoming winter transfer window with a buy clause included for the summer of 2023, according to the source.
Neves is reportedly eager to leave Wolves, and Mendes is helping to arrange a deal to Camp Nou while Barcelona considers the possibilities of acquiring the former FC Porto player.
After taking Adama Traore on loan from Wolves in January of last year, Barça decided against making a permanent signing, and the winger went back to the Molineux. Neves’ deal might need Barcelona to sign him on a long-term basis, unlike that one.
It remains to be seen how the La Liga heavyweights approach their intentions for the winter window, however at this stage it is all just conjecture.
