PSG target Marcus Rashford surprised Ronaldo reaction after taking his place at Manchester United.
After a stellar start to the Premier League season, Marcus Rashford is currently ahead of colleague Cristiano Ronaldo in Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United pecking order.
According to reports, Marcus Rashford was taken aback by Cristiano Ronaldo’s response to him starting for Manchester United.
Due to Rashford’s resurgence at Old Trafford, Ronaldo, 37, has started just one Premier League game this season—without scoring. The 24-year-old has played as a center-forward this season and has three goals and six assists in the same competition.
In contrast to Ronaldo, who netted 24 goals last season, Rashford struggled to score, hitting just five goals across all competitions. Despite the fact that the two recently seem to have reversed jobs, it is stated that the Portuguese veteran does not harbor any animosity toward his younger coworker.
As United went on to finish sixth in the Premier League under Ralf Rangnick, there were rumors in January that Ronaldo had divided the team’s locker room. They finished with 58 points, their fewest in 32 years, and were unable to advance to the Champions League.
At the time, Rashford denied these rumors. As he tweeted: “Then, are we just winging it at this point? Please give up searching for divisions.”
And it’s assumed that the two players get along well since, according to The Sun, Ronaldo is Rashford’s “greatest cheerleader.”
Ronaldo has been a bit of a pain in the dressing room, and several of the players have been upset that he missed preseason and has been moping about Carrington, according to a source who spoke to the publication.
However, his attitude has changed and he has been incredibly helpful with Marcus since the transfer window closed. He has been spending time with him, discussing the match, and offering his helpful criticism regarding positioning on the field.
Marcus was a little taken aback by it since it’s never easy when you’re competing for the same position with a teammate who isn’t playing.
The two, however, have never had a better relationship, and Marcus is aware that he has a lot to learn from his partner. He is appreciative of Ronaldo’s counsel and the fact that he appears sincere in his desire for Marcus to advance and achieve.”
Manager Erik ten Hag said Rashford was content at Old Trafford earlier this month. Once more, talking about the past was tough for him. “What I do see, however, is a content Marcus Rashford and some areas of his game that we could develop.
“And over the past two and a half months, we’ve worked incredibly hard with him on various fronts. You can see that he enjoys it and wants to apply it on the field at this precise time.”
Ten Hag continued: “He comes here every day and is clearly having a great time. He exudes a lot of positivity, and if you combine all of that with the way you play, your desire to work on different facets of your game, and your happiness, you will be able to provide more to the team, performance, outcome, and personal growth.”
