Barcelona is not expected to back down just yet despite adding a large number of players during the summer transfer window as the team is still looking for reinforcements.
Barcelona is thought to prioritize a right-back and a central midfielder in the market. However, according to Diario SPORT, the Catalans have also entered the race to sign Youssoufa Moukoko, an attacking midfielder for Borussia Dortmund.
Moukoko, who is only 17 years old, has been one of German football’s rising stars this season. This season, especially with Sebastien Haller out of the lineup, he has developed into a crucial attacking asset for Dortmund.
In all competitions, he has racked up six goals and six assists.
Moukoko received an unexpected call-up to the German team for the FIFA World Cup due to his performances. Additionally, it appears that the youngster has emerged as one of Europe’s most sought-after prospects, with Real Madrid and other teams interested in his services.
Barcelona has also entered the fray in an effort to sign Moukoko for nothing at the end of the current campaign. The player’s deal with Dortmund expires in 2023, making pre-contract negotiations with other clubs possible in January of this year.
According to the report, Moukoko is eager to wear the Barcelona uniform next season, which is hardly surprising for a player his age.
But given Dortmund’s steadfast desire to hold on to the player, Barcelona may find it difficult to lure Moukoko away from the club. The Black and Yellows are already expected to lose Jude Bellingham in 2023, so they will make every effort to keep Moukoko, another extremely talented player, on the team.
But it will be interesting to see what the young attacker’s future holds next summer with Barcelona and Real Madrid on their tails.
