AC Milan forward Leao is currently one of the best youngsters in the world and the Portuguese star has hit the ground this season. He has improved a lot and top clubs has shown an interest in him.
Despite Carlo Ancelotti’s claims that he is content with the current Real Madrid team, reports indicate that the Italian manager is still interested in bringing in a new forward. Rafael Leao of AC Milan and Portugal has been mentioned as a potential target.
Real Madrid ‘like’ Leao, according to MARCA, despite the fact that they haven’t yet made any moves to sign him.
The 23-year-old has made tremendous progress at San Siro over the past two years and has become one of Stefano Pioli’s most crucial components.
Leao was crucial to Milan’s Serie A title win last season and has continued his strong play this year.
The Portuguese attacker, who has mostly played on Milan’s left wing but can also play through the middle, has scored seven goals and assisted on nine others in 20 games.
Leao has contributed with a goal or an assist every 92 minutes this season with 16 goal involvements in 1481 minutes across all competitions.
It is not difficult to understand why Leao has admirers in Real Madrid given his current form and illustrious pedigree.
As Eden Hazard’s time appears to be running out and Mariano Diaz is unlikely to stay at the club for very long, the Merengues may need to strengthen their frontline soon.
Leao could thus compete with Vinicius Junior on the left flank or cover for Karim Benzema in the No. 9 position, making him a valuable addition to the Santiago Bernabeu squad.
His Milan contract expires in 2024, but there have been rumors that a new agreement is in the works. It will be interesting to see if Real Madrid’s interest in the Portuguese international has any real consequences.
