Real Madrid are interested in signing Manchester City defender Joao Cancelo next summer.
According to a report today on AS, Real Madrid is interested in defender Joao Cancelo of Manchester City and will try to transfer him away from the British team next summer.
Even if Cancelo’s contract with City expires in 2027, according to this same report, Madrid believes it is possible to make a deal for about €50 million. Cancelo is 28 years old.
The Portuguese defender, who has spent his whole career as a right-back, has also been utilized on the left wing, where Cancelo has flourished, by Manchester City coach Pep Guardiola. He is a fullback with an offensive mindset who would give Real Madrid’s system another threat.
It makes sense for Madrid to acquire Cancelo for this reason. Even though Cancelo has been in excellent form lately, he might quickly replace Carvajal at left back for Real in contests where Mendy’s defensive contribution isn’t as crucial.
Madrid may be overconfident if they truly believe a player like Cancelo will leave Manchester City for that sum. Los Blancos will almost probably need to increase their offer by a few million dollars if they are serious about signing Cancelo next summer.
