Real Madrid are now worried about Vinicius Jr, with the Brazilian star in same situation as Paris Saint-Germain’s Neymar.
Attacker Vinicius Jr. of Real Madrid is renowned for his brilliant dribbling skills and quick turn of speed, which frequently stops opposition defenders in their tracks. Over the past 18 months or so, the 22-year-old has gradually transformed into a superstar at the club, becoming one of their most crucial players.
Vinicius, who last season helped Real Madrid win the La Liga and UEFA Champions League, has taken the lead in attack this year as Karim Benzema struggles with his fitness.
The Brazilian has had a difficult few weeks, though, as opposition defenders have been focusing on him and using sneaky methods to slow down the speedster.
The loss to Rayo Vallecano earlier this week was a clear example, and the right-back for the Madrilenian club, Ivan Balliu, even admitted that he had been targeting Vinicius.
Similar allegations were made last night against Cadiz, who was fouled and subjected to harsh challenges on numerous occasions.
Real Madrid is now beginning to have serious concerns about this, according to AS. Los Blancos are concerned about opponents tackling and challenging Vinicius harshly and worry that he may experience a situation similar to Neymar’s given how the PSG star is targeted by opposition players with powerful and violent tackles.
Real Madrid’s worries are not unfounded given how the situation against Cadiz turned out. Out of the seven fouls Vinicius received on Thursday night, Ivan Alejo alone was responsible for five of them. The former Flamengo wonderkid received six fouls against Rayo.
Vinicius has received a total of 48 fouls this season in La Liga, which is more than any other player in any of the top five European leagues.
The Real Madrid star tweeted, “Thank God, one more match without injury,” following Thursday’s game, which pretty much encapsulated his predicament. In spite of receiving harsh treatment from rivals, Vinicius has no intention of altering his behavior or playing manner.
