Real Madrid are set to sign Bundesliga left-back in the summer as Ferland Mendy expected to leave the Spanish club.
According to recent reports, Madrid will try to strengthen three positions during the summer transfer window. Left-back is one of those three positions that the team hopes to improve.
Ferland Mendy is currently Los Blancos’ first-choice left-back. Beyond him, Carlo Ancelotti has Nacho and David Alaba as options, and he has also occasionally used Antonio Rudiger on the left.
However, there are still questions about Mendy’s future at the Santiago Bernabeu as it is believed that the team is undecided on whether to keep him or sell him. Previous attempts to reach a new agreement had failed due to his wage demands.
Even though he has been a consistent member of the team, there is a sense that Real Madrid can still do better in that area. Now, as reported by SPORT, Los Blancos have their sights set on a summer transfer for Portugal’s Raphael Guerreiro, a left-back for Borussia Dortmund.
Since moving to the German powerhouse from Lorient in 2016, the 28-year-old has played more than 200 times as a regular for the team.
Guerreiro has also been in excellent form this year, scoring three goals and setting up three more in 18 games played in all competitions.
The 28-year-old, who has elite level experience, is an alluring target for Real Madrid as his contract with Borussia Dortmund expires at the end of the current campaign. Guerreiro will be accessible as a free transfer in the summer, according to this.
According to the report, Dortmund may think about selling Guerreiro during the winter because it would be their final opportunity to make money.
It will be interesting to see who Ancelotti and company decide to sign to bolster the left-back position. Other names on the club’s radar include Fran Garcia and Miguel Gutierrez, who only recently left Real Madrid.
