Real Madrid €100 million flop admitted that he is ready to leave the club in the summer after he failed.
Eden Hazard, a misfit at Real Madrid, recently acknowledged in a candid interview that his time there has not gone as planned and that he would be open to leaving if the Merengues so desired.
Hazard appears to be attracting interest from potential summer suitors as a result of his open admission. In fact, two Premier League clubs—Aston Villa and Newcastle United—as well as Serie A powerhouse Juventus are reportedly interested in the Belgian, according to SPORT.
Hazard joined Real Madrid more than three years ago in a deal worth over €100 million, coming from Premier League powerhouse Chelsea. The 31-year-old, however, has fallen short of expectations due to his ongoing fitness and injury problems.
Under manager Carlo Ancelotti, Hazard has appeared to be a pale shadow of his former self and has had a very difficult time getting into games. Even with Karim Benzema dealing with injury issues, the Italian had insisted that he would depend on the winger frequently, but that has not been the case.
His chances at the Santiago Bernabeu appear to be extremely dim, so a summer transfer may be in the cards—especially since Real Madrid will be determined to get rid of his €30 million gross yearly salary.
Additionally, the former Chelsea star may spend the summer at Aston Villa or Newcastle United.
Since the club’s ownership changed, Newcastle has been credited with having an interest in Hazard, and the club is once more being mentioned as a potential suitor for the Belgium captain. According to the report, Juventus is another team vying for Hazard’s services.
Hazard’s Real Madrid contract is up in 2024, and if given the choice, he would rather stay and continue to compete. Although a departure in January is not an option, the Belgian would accept his fate if the club wanted him to leave.
