It is now widely known that Real Madrid has Jude Bellingham as one of their top targets for the summer of 2023. One of the most sought-after players on the market, the Borussia Dortmund midfielder is expected to spark a significant bidding war in 2019.
In fact, in addition to Real Madrid, Manchester City, Liverpool, and Chelsea are all interested in signing the 19-year-old Englishman. The midfielder could command a high transfer fee given the competition for his services and his rising stock, particularly if he has a strong World Cup.
While estimates of about €150 million have already been made, Real Madrid is reportedly unwilling to overpay for Bellingham.
It might compel them to consider additional options for summer midfield department reinforcement. In addition, SPORT claims that Real Madrid has four other names in addition to Bellingham as potential targets for 2023.
The four players Youri Tielemans of Leicester City, Milinkovic-Savic of Lazio, Enzo Fernandez of SL Benfica, and Lovro Majer of Rennes are those the Merengues are keeping an eye on as potential backups for Bellingham.
Due to the fact that Tielemans’ contract with Leicester expires the following year and he has made no moves to extend it, he is a sought-after target for many clubs in the market. The Foxes want to give him a two-year contract, but if he declines, they might even think about selling him in January.
Regarding Milinkovic-Savic, over the past three to four years, Real Madrid has consistently been mentioned in connection with the Serbian midfield powerhouse. The 27-year-asking old’s price from Lazio prevented a transfer, though. He is still a possibility for Los Blancos to consider if Bellingham declines to join, though.
Before he signed with SL Benfica this past summer, Enzo Fernandez was being watched by Real Madrid. Although he is only 21 years old and still has five years left on his contract, the Argentine has had a successful start to life in Europe and has already proven that he has what it takes to be a top player.
Finally, Real Madrid is also considering Lovro Majer as a possibility. Since joining Rennes last year, the Croatian international, dubbed the “next Luka Modric,” has performed admirably. The 24-year-old, who has also been linked with Atletico Madrid, recently agreed to a new contract tying him to the team through the year 2027.
How Real Madrid approaches their summer 2019 transfer window remains to be seen. However, as stated earlier, the Spanish capital club’s top priority continues to be Bellingham.
