Real Madrid is interested in signing Manchester United €50 million target Cody Gakpo in January as Benzema replacement.
Cody Gakpo, a player for the Netherlands, has so far become one of the FIFA World Cup 2022’s breakout stars. Additionally, it appears that some of the top clubs in Europe, including Real Madrid, have taken notice of his performances.
Gakpo is indeed on the radar of some of the top teams on the continent, including Real Madrid, Manchester United, Liverpool, and Bayern Munich, according to Marco Timmer of Voetbal International.
Gakpo is a PSV Eindhoven academy graduate who has dominated the Dutch football scene for the past few seasons. The 23-year-old, who scored 21 goals and assisted 15 more across all competitions last season, has been on fire this year.
He has contributed to 30 goals (13 goals, 17 assists) in just 24 games for PSV this season. He has continued this form at the World Cup, scoring two goals in as many games for the Netherlands.
The 23-year-old, a left-winger by trade, has recently come to Real Madrid’s attention. Due to the likelihood that Eden Hazard will leave and the current uncertainty surrounding Marco Asensio’s future, Los Blancos may need to sign new attackers next summer.
Gakpo can prove to be a top addition in that regard, even though he would face competition from Vinicius Jr. for the left starting position.
However, Los Blancos will have to contend with Bayern Munich, the German champion, as well as Premier League powerhouses Manchester United and Liverpool.
For their part, PSV is willing to accept a price of at least €50 million in exchange for the sale of their prized asset. Currently, the 23-year-sole old’s attention is on the World Cup. However, negotiations between his camp and the parties involved are anticipated to begin after the tournament in Qatar.
Given that Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Rafael Leao have also been linked, it is unclear whether Real Madrid will be able to secure his services or will decide to look elsewhere to bolster their frontline.
