After just TWO months, Marcelo is expected to leave Olympiacos after the Greek powerhouse grew “tired” of his on-field performance and fitness problems.
The 34-year-old only joined the team in September after a 15-year, trophy-filled stint at Real Madrid.
After briefly being connected to a shocking transfer to the Premier League with Leicester City, he decided on Olympiacos.
However, it appears that his time in Greece is coming to an end because Olympiacos is reportedly getting frustrated with the star player.
FootMercato, via BeFootball, reports that the Greek team is “fed up” with the left-back’s limited playing time of 30 minutes per game.
For his new team, he has only made five total appearances, all of which have come from the bench.
The report also states that Olympiacos are dissatisfied with his inability to improve his level of fitness.
Now that Marcelo is no longer needed, Olympiacos manager Michel wants to get rid of him as soon as possible.
Since Marcelo is currently in fourth place in the Greek Superleague standings, 12 points behind the league-leading Panathinaikos, Michel won’t be using Marcelo in his plans for the second half of the season.
A deal to end his illustrious career and return to Real to serve as the club’s international ambassador is also rumored to exist for Marcelo.
If he wants to continue his career, Brazilian clubs are also interested.
Despite his physical limitations, Marcelo would still bring a wealth of experience from his incredible time at Real.
During his time in Spain, he made 546 appearances for the La Liga team and amassed a remarkable five Champions League titles.
He also played 58 times for Brazil in international competition, winning the Confederations Cup in 2013.
