Real Madrid midfielder Tchouameni sends a clear warning to Barcelona, ahead of the World Cup tournament.
Aurelien Tchouameni, a midfielder for Real Madrid and France, opened up about his feelings for Barcelona during a press conference prior to the FIFA World Cup.
The Frenchman, 22, only joined Real Madrid this past summer after leaving AS Monaco in a deal worth up to €100 million.
Tchouameni was thrust into the spotlight after Casemiro left in the summer, and he has thrived in his new team, quickly emerging as a crucial component of Carlo Ancelotti’s setup.
Tchouameni was a vital component of the French national team setup, so his selection for the World Cup squad was expected.
Tchouameni is sharing a dressing room with two Barcelona players, Ousmane Dembele and Jules Kounde, in the France camp.
The 22-year-old midfielder was questioned about the Barcelona winger’s form going into the competition during the press conference.
The Real Madrid star retorted that it was challenging for him to discuss Dembele because of his time spent with Barça while simultaneously admitting that he always wants the Catalans to lose.
“I always watch Barça games hoping they will lose. But now that we have him on the team, I hope he will demonstrate the full scope of his talent for us,” Tchouameni said (h/t InstantFoot).
Tchouameni will be crucial to France’s World Cup defense because Paul Pogba and N’Golo Kante are out injured.
