Opinion: Real Madrid might have found the perfect Kylian Mbappe’s alternative with £120 million Marcus Rashford available in 2023.
Marcus Rashford is reportedly valued at £120 million by Manchester United, who hope that the high asking price will discourage PSG from making a move for the England international.
ESPN reports that Manchester United plans to offer Marcus Rashford a new contract and has no intention of selling the forward during this transfer window. The staggering £120 million price tag placed on the 24-year-old by the Red Devils may be intended to fend off PSG’s rumored interest.
OPINION: Marcus Rashford is the type of profile Real Madrid are looking for, after missing out on Kylian Mbappe. He is only 24 and he can play as a winger and a forward.
Manchester United could be open to selling him for €100m in 2023, but I don’t think the club will be open to selling this summer.
Marcus Rashford has had a challenging time at Manchester United, but the club has no plans to let him go. Beginning at the beginning of last season, the England international has been having a bad stretch of play.
He has been struggling with fitness issues, so he still hasn’t reached the necessary sharpness. Though many think the forward’s performance has been impacted by the team’s overall performance, he finished the previous season with four goals and two assists in 25 league games.
Since the end of the season, there has been much talk about his future, with numerous clubs reportedly interested in signing the forward. Manchester United hasn’t indicated that they’d consider any offers for the 24-year-old, though, and they’re not about to change their stance on the matter.
Despite strong interest from PSG, Manchester United has no desire to sell Rashford. The dominant French team is looking for a flexible attacker who can play anywhere along the frontline. They are willing to let Mauro Icardi go because he does not fit the mold of Christophe Galtier, the new manager.
Icardi is rumored to be joining Manchester United, who are looking for a wide forward and a backup striker.
Regarding the PSG interest, it is said that they have spoken with Rashford’s representatives to learn more about the possibility of acquiring the forward.
The player is valued at £60 million by the French team, but Manchester United reportedly wants to pay twice as much to even have a chance at signing Rashford.
In other words, they don’t want the forward to leave the team and have increased his value to about £120 million to deter suitors. Rashford is highly regarded throughout Old Trafford, so the Red Devils are prepared to extend him a new contract.
Erik ten Hag was questioned about Rashford during the pre-game press conference, and the manager emphasized the forward’s significance to the team. Ten Hag declared:
He is very significant. You’ve seen that I’ve been extremely happy with him since the day I arrived here, and I don’t want to lose him. He is unquestionably part of Manchester United’s plans.
Rashford’s current contract has a year left on it, but the club has the option to extend it by another year. The forward could therefore remain at Manchester United until 2024 if the club decides not to sell him.
When Manchester United travels to face Brentford at the weekend, Rashford might make an appearance. The forward will be hoping to assist his team in recording their first victory of the season after they lost to Brighton on the opening day.
