Real Madrid set to sell Benzema's

Real Madrid set to sell Benzema’s backup striker to Getafe for €10 million -report after a season long-loan at AS Roma.

According to MARCA, a fundamental agreement has been struck between the two teams.

Borja Mayoral, a striker likely to cost Getafe €10 million, and Real Madrid have reached an agreement in principle.

Mayoral seemed to have a chance to remain at Real Madrid to serve as Benzema’s backup, but it appears Mariano will fill that need after Los Blancos secured a respectable offer for Mayoral.

Getafe wanted Mayoral on a permanent basis after he performed well during the second half of last season while playing for the Madrid-based team.

The Spanish striker had potential over the previous two years and might have been a valuable backup for Madrid, but Los Blancos were obliged to act because Mariano received no offers.

Although the deal has not yet been finalized and is not yet official, Mayoral has returned to the team in the United States. If Getafe and Madrid complete the deal, he will most likely have to return to Spain very soon.

Real Madrid is now trying to sell a lot of players, but it seems like nobody really wants the guys they are trying to sell. The club has no use for players like Marco Asensio, Mariano, or Dani Ceballos, and it appears that no one else does either.

I’ve already discussed Real Madrid’s experiment with using Hazard as a false nine against Barcelona. Even though the experiment badly failed, there is still room for improvement because it was only one half of a football game.

But if things don’t work out, Mariano would be Real Madrid’s only true backup to Benzema once more.

Real Madrid need a new back-up striker

Simply said, Mariano is not up to par. However, I am not even considering hiring a young striker because doing so would deny the kid the playing time they would require.

Instead, things might get intriguing if Real Madrid chooses to sign a seasoned striker like Edin Dzeko.

He could perform the duties for one or two seasons, and his background would ensure that he is not unprepared when it counts. Dzeko wouldn’t want a bigger part on a championship squad because of his advanced age.
