Two Real Madrid stars are still a doubt in the UEFA Champions League game against Celtic.
Real Madrid will be attempting to turn their recent losses into victories after their past two games. The next match for Carlo Ancelotti’s team is against Celtic at the Santiago Bernabeu in the UEFA Champions League final group match.
However, ahead of the game, Real Madrid is still concerned about the health of two of their star players, Karim Benzema and Aurelien Tchouameni.
Due to physical exhaustion, Benzema has now missed three straight games. Although he is not reportedly hurt, the Frenchman complained of soreness prior to the match against Girona, thus coach Ancelotti decided not to risk the club captain.
And Benzema is still questionable for the match against Celtic, according to Miguel Angel Diaz of COPE. The 34-year-old engaged in some ball work before working out in the gym today and training alone on the field.
Even though the feelings following the session are said to be positive, Los Blancos may decide to continue being careful with the Ballon d’Or 2022 winner and decide not to risk playing him against the Scottish powerhouses.
Prior to Sunday’s match against Girona, Tchouameni, a French midfielder, withdrew from the team owing to some pain. Since joining the team in the summer, the 22-year-old summer addition has developed into a crucial player, and his absence in the weekend match was felt.
Tchouameni trained by himself earlier today in preparation for the Celtic game, and even though he is injury-free, his participation in the midweek game is still “difficult.”
When manager Ancelotti speaks to the press before Wednesday’s game, an update on their likely availability might be revealed.
