Virgil Van Dijk has already warned his Liverpool teammates about Manchester United.
On Monday night in the Premier League, Man Utd will play host to Liverpool as both teams look for their first victory of the year.
Virgil van Dijk has cautioned his Liverpool teammates against becoming comfortable before their Monday night Premier League matchup against Manchester United.
Both teams have had unimpressive starts to the current league season and have yet to each register a victory after their first two games.
United enters the game after suffering back-to-back losses to Brentford and Brighton, while Liverpool has drew with Fulham and Crystal Palace.
If Erik ten Hag’s team were to triumph against all odds at Old Trafford the following week, they would surpass their formidable rivals, and Van Dijk is fully aware of the danger they offer going into the game.
He told reporters, “They [United] are a terrific squad, in my opinion, they have good players all over the pitch. Naturally, their confidence isn’t at its highest, but this is the ideal game to help them recover.
Despite the fact that Jurgen Klopp’s team defeated United convincingly twice last season—5-0 at Old Trafford and 4-0 at Anfield—Van Dijk is just concerned with obtaining a win this time.
“We’re looking at ourselves and want to make sure we’re ready for it. We’ll work hard this week again,” he continued.
It’s big, but the goal isn’t to make a statement; rather, we want to win and will do everything in our power to do so.
“Winning there has been challenging for us throughout the years. We cannot dispute the fact that last year’s performance was excellent.
It will be fascinating since they have had a challenging start to the year and we haven’t had the finest start either.
