When a teammate brought the ball into the box, Lewandowski made a deft chip to get it away from the advancing Saudi Arabia goalie before dragging it back for Piotr Zielinski, who scored with a strong finish from close range.
Lewandowski’s quick movement and knowledge inside the area helped his Poland squad gain the upper hand after a stretch of persistent Saudi Arabia domination.
The 34-year-old, who provided an assist, will be looking to record his first World Cup goal shortly after finding the back of the net.
