Xavi Hernandez is expected to make three changes to the starting line-up against Viktoria Plzen.
On Wednesday, FC Barcelona will welcome Viktoria Plzen at Camp Nou to begin their UEFA Champions League campaign.
Particularly in a group with Bayern Munich and Inter Milan, the Catalans are hoping for a victory that may significantly aid them in gaining an early lead.
The confidence in the home crowd will be high because Barça has won three straight La Liga games. Coach Xavi Hernandez may have to make changes, though, given the club’s demanding schedule in the coming weeks.
One of the players expected to get the start in this at-home matchup versus Plzen is Ferran Torres. Following the signing of Raphinha and Robert Lewandowski, the former Manchester City starlet has found himself at the bottom of the pecking order.
Torres has only made one La Liga start to far, so this midweek match at Camp Nou might be a great chance for the Spaniard to establish himself.
Frenkie de Jong is another player whose start is expected. The Dutchman had to deal with a hectic transfer period during which there were many rumors about his prospective departure from Camp Nou. To many people’s shock, the midfielder did, in fact, decide to stay with the team.
De Jong might start in place of Gavi in Barcelona’s midfield against Plzen, however Pedri might also be in line to replace the Dutch international this coming week.
Last but not least, Andreas Christensen might replace one of the two center backs in the Barcelona starting lineup. In order to create room for the Danish international this midweek, Ronald Araujo might be used instead of Eric Garcia, who has been in excellent form lately.
